Maddox Riley Schlarb

I'm finally letting you all know about our new additon. Maddox was born September 9 (Austin's birthday!!!) He weighed 8lb 12oz. 20in long. It was a wonderful labor as far as labor is concerned. Thank God for the epidural!!! We got to the hospital just before noon, and he was born at 2:54PM. He arrived before the family left for vacation, so we couldn't have been happier. Everything is going pretty well. He sleeps constantly so far, so much so that I have to wake him up to eat. Check out all of his hair! The boy came out with style. Claire has been wonderful with him so far and she is still potty trained which I was worried about.

Mom and Girls...Girls and Guys

Thought I'd add a few more photos- while I'm on a role. Here are my 2 beautiful daughters Bailey and Kjirsten and the next photo is with cousins Isaac and Elijah. Let's get our kids blogging! -Maybe we just have more time than they do???...

Little Cousin

Here is Kjirsten Anna Stickney, last summer holding Sara's little Emma Kristine. We had a fun end-of-summer day picnic-ing with Norwegian relatives up at Mud Lake. Kjirsten is a Jr. this fall at Underwood High; active in school: an especially good musician with such a beautiful voice and plays the clarinet very well. She is active at her workplace, Taco John's, when not in school. There she goes!

Our Other Babies

Anybody love a well-trained lab? Here's our two beauties, Lilly and Tanner. Bailey trained them well in Agility, Showmanship and Obedience while very active in 4-H. They miss her living with us at home, now that college is here. She is in her 2nd year- last year was Bemidji State and this year she's closer to home at the MN State Community and Technical college, Fergus Falls. Go, Bee!
Sara's dog Sunny is their mom and if anyone has ever met Sunny, you've met a very special family member. They are so much like her in personality: so quiet, smart and gentle.

Gulf Shores

Since no one else has jumped in to tell you about our vacation, I will! Here is who went:

Lois & Calvin
Mike & Cindy
Kraig & Jen
JD & Amy
Kevin & Jan
Carl & Stephanie
Drew & Jamie
Caleb & Paula Elle
Steve & Tamie

We were sad because Austin & Paula had to back out when they found out they were pregnant, and then Adam & Laura had to back out too, so we missed them. But we had a great time. We went to Gulf Shores and rented a GORGEOUS home!! It was HUGE! It was 12 bedroom, 14 bath and we had our own pool!!

We got really lucky because just a week before we left, it looked like the hurricane was going to hit Gulf Shores directly, but it turned away. The first couple of days, the beaches were closed because the current was rough, so we just went to the pool instead. Then mid-week the "love bugs" showed up. They were everywhere - especially bad at the pool....so we moved to the beach. The beach was calm by then, so pretty and bug free! Unfortunately many of us passed around a bad cold, but figured it was better to be sick at the beach than sick at home. We had a great time and some are already talking about a return trip next year! Here are a few pictures (my kids are the main subjects - hehe) others will have to post theirs too!

Everyone else has to post about the trip and add their pictures too!!

Cookbook Cutie

Bailey's "Festival Pie"
-This cutie sure knows how to copy a recipe off of a can of pumpkin and pass it off as grandma's best. Here is Bailey Jean Stickney showing off her first- ever-homemade-pie last Thanksgiving, 2007. We don't even have the recipe written down: just look on your can, and presto!
By the way, Chrissy- any of us started sending any recipes? What a GREAT idea! It would be so cool to find out who may have grandma sink's original recipes with her handwriting on them and somehow get them in a book. I wonder if that would be possible? Whenever I can, I ask my mom to write out the recipes i get from her, so I can have them in her writing. I try to do the same for Kjirsten and Bailey. Makes the memory so much more special, i think.

Attn. Ranger Rick & Patrolman Bob

We are planning a trip to the Zanesville Metro and surrounding area, having not been in the area for some time ( nine years ) we could use some help. We are wondering about your visa or immigration requirements. Items that are not allowed , we are aware of non local crickets and maple log and Penn. syrup restrictions. Anything else we need to know?
Also could you help with a good place to stay? Would you suggest the Zanesville Hilton, or maybe a good homeless shelter? If not perhaps a local school gym or should we bring a tent and sleep next to the car? Is a permit needed for the last option?
Our travel agent is thinking of the week of Thanksgiving for our arrival date as there is a rumor about a good party there that we might crash. I'm sure there will be many more questions but for now this is all .

Thanks for any help.

YOU SIR ARE BUSTED

Here is a picture of Garry Lees cannon likely trying to get rid of the evidence out into the campground. Lucky thing that he forgot toload it up with powder first... Second picture is the rest of the case of pop that he coughed up after some grueling questioning by me. I think he has more hidden around here somewhere. Thanks Patrolman Bob for the headsup on who to be keeping an eye on. Give your little sidekick puppydog a treat and a pat on the head for me.

Brian and Sue Dahlgren wish an invitation

Stephanie, Brian and Sue would like an invitation to the Family Blogg.

I seem to have two addresses. Dont know which is correct.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Today is also Dad's birthday! He's not feeling real great, but hopefully he was able to get some rest and enjoy it as much as possible! Happy Birthday Dad - love you!

"YA GOT HIM!"

Wed. evening this bear came in and walked within 20 ft. of the tree that garry was sitting in. We didn't weigh him but guessed him to be about 175 pds. Steve saw the bear about 100 yds. out and tried motioning to garry where the bear was as it was coming ever so closer. Steve had his mosquito gloves on so garry couldn't quite tell where he was pointing and he wasn't looking out far enough to see the bear. The bear wasn't making a sound as it walked towards us and garry heard it before he saw it. When he finally saw the bear it was only 40 ft. from him over his left shoulder, then it came close to his tree behind him and then to his right, and thats when we got him.

Public Warning!!

Would you give this kid a driver's license?? Cody will be driving next week!!!!! Fair warning to all those on the road.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KENT

Wish Kent a Happy Birthday!!! Just wanted everybody to know what a great dad/father-in-law/grandpa you are. Thanks for always being there to help out with the kids!! And yes, I am sucking-up:)

Break thur in Red Pop Caper

DEA officers with the help of Big Jack shown here sniffing out a stash of red pop also found hidden in the spare tire compartment along with the Maple syrup. Who ever owns this car must be responsible for the crimes committed at Valhalla. I'm getting closer to solving this case.

Sink Tradition: Recipe and Memory Book

Hey Everyone
I would like to put together a Sink Tradition: Recipe & Memory Book loaded with recipes, memories of making/or what the recipe means to you, pictures of gatherings and other Sink traditions…..Anything that reminds you of being at Grandma & Grandpa Sinks. We could include traditional recipes, pickling, canning and other items that Gma & Gpa might have made at the farm. I would be happy to put together the book and have it printed. Would anyone be interested in sending recipes and/or obtaining a copy? If so start looking through your pictures and recipes. Chris

Abandoned Car yields information on Syrup Scram

Waterloo Police informed Patrolman Bob that they had impounded a Plymouth Bleeze after it was left in the town ..The VIN number was removed and the plate just had the words (Syrup King) which gives no help in the investigation..What was found in the trunk was several bottles of Indiana Maple Syrup but after the lab report came back what was found was Pennsylvania Maple Syrup in the bottles..How could someone be so low as to do this. The car will be up for auction and i was told that you people on this blog can bid on it..Minimum bid is $1000.00. Bidding to end Sept 8th.. Police think the people or persons made their get away by train but as of yet they don't know where. Any information on this case would be appreciated. Police stated you should always practice safe syrup buying and make sure you buy from a reputable supplier
