Close Encounter of the pre- Vice Presidential kind
Hi all...See my comment at the bottom of Stephanie's 'Sara Palin' photos...won't re-write it all here, but I'll give you a little taste of the story. I impatiently listened to Dan Quayle's political mantra and washed my hands quickly after I politely almost kicked him out of my livingroom, because he was 'keeping me' from getting to work one day. Ha!

Christmas Family
We have a Christmas family!!
Let me tell you a little bit about the family:
Mom, Dad and 3 kids. The youngest is a new baby and was born with problems. Those problems have started some medical debt for them. Then on top of that, Dad has had two heart surgeries in the last couple of weeks, and Mom was taken to the hospital today with a problem with her head. She is having tests done today, including a CAT scan. They are a hard working family just trying to make it and are going to have a hard time giving their children a good Christmas with the hospital bills they are facing. Please pray for this family, they are in need of healing. I am SO excited that our family is going to get to be a blessing to them this holiday season!!
We still need one more family!!! I had hoped to have both families picked by the end of the month. That is FRIDAY! Please, if you have someone that we can help, let me know. If I don't hear from anyone by Friday, I will contact a local group that finds families in our communities. Thanks everyone!

Technical Difficulties
Technology is great when it works with you, but when it doesn't, well........
The ksink@fwi.com email that you all have is no longer good. Our internet carrier packed it up and now we have been forced onto another carrier. For the time being our new e-mail address will be dodzikeng@earthlink.net
We're not sure how long this one will be good for, we are in the process of switching to Verizon which they say could take up to 30 days. So in the meantime, all e-mails sent to us in the last week are in limbo somewhere never to be seen again. Technology stinks sometimes!!!

Sarah Palin in Fort Wayne
Sarah Palin came to Fort Wayne last night!

Carl's cousin has been Laura Bush's personal photographer for the last few years. She travels everywhere the Bush's go and her pictures are all documented in the historical archives. Last month she was contacted by someone on the Palin campaign asking if she would like to join them. So, she is now Sarah Palin's photographer on the campaign trail!
She was able to get 25 VIP tickets for her family, so Carl's parents asked if we wanted to go. Then they called back and asked if Mom and Dad would like to come too, so we all went! I wasn't sure what to expect, I'm not much of a political person, but it was incredible!
About halfway through her speech a secret service agent came to us and said that our group needed to come with him. We weren't sure where we were going, but ended up downstairs, backstage! We all lined up and when she was finished we got to meet her and get our picture taken with her! It was really fun! We will get that picture in a few weeks I think, in the meantime, we got a few snapshots of her.

One more birthday
Happy 15th Birthday Kyle - October 21st also - !! I just cannot believe how big these kids are getting. We seem to be hitting a lot of milestones within a one year time frame. With Kaylah graduating and starting college, Cody getting his drivers license, now Kyle is old enough to get a permit and Brenna will be a teenager soon. For all you parents out there with little ones, time goes by way too fast.

REPOST! - Christmas Family
Just reminding and hoping that you guys are looking in your communities for a family that we could help this season. We had a family mentioned today by Jamie (Drew's wife) that they personally know. They own coffee houses around town and she has been diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. They are having to sell their house because of troubles with the incoming Starbucks and the fact that they are focusing more on her health than work right now.
We "adopted" two families last Christmas and I know we can do that again, so please post if you know of a family. Again, if we have more than 2 families suggested, we will figure out what to do together.

Hey guys - it's time to start thinking about our Christmas family this year!! Last year we were able to help two families and I know we can do that again! Please look around your communities, your churches and friends to see if you know of a family that we could help. Last year Dad, Paula, and I did a lot of the shopping. Depending on where our Christmas families are (geographically) we may need other people to do the shopping. Other things that will need to be done are gathering the money, getting wish lists from the families and wrapping the gifts. We would gladly do it again (it's a lot of fun) but want you guys to have a chance to do it if you would like to. So please, think of a family that you know of and let us know if you want to shop! I don't know how we will "select" our families if we have a lot of them suggested, we'll figure it out as we go I guess.

More free kittens!
Time to clean my room...
well on Saturday morning i decided to clean my room. at the front desk at my dorm they have vacuums you can borrow, so i went down and got one. As i get in the elevator i look at the vacuum and it is covered with dust it is so dirty from top to bottom i cant even believe it. so i get it into my room plug it in and start sweeping and it starts making this wretched "hmmmbrrffffffff..." noise. so i stop it, lay it down and look inside the hose and sand, rocks, and leaves start pouring all over my carpet, making a ridiculous mess all over my carpet way worse than it ever was!!! finally i just sweep my rug out with a broom. i took one more look at that vacuum and it says in big letters taped to the front its name is.....benny!!!

VOTE FOR CODY!!
This is one of those times when it pays to have a large family. Cody's Graphic Design class was asked to submit t-shirt designs for a contest that WBCL is having. The radio station will be handing these t-shirts out during the holidays to those that bring them a ham during their collection days which will benefit a local food bank. Cody would like to ask any of you out there to please log on to WBCL.org and click on the contest link and then the voting link. Hopefully you think his is the best, however, we are family and even if you don't, please vote for it anyhow:) There are five to choose from, his would be the 3rd one down. The circle you click on to pick the one you want is very small and to the bottom left of his design. After you look you'll know what I'm talking about, it's the one with the chef's hat. First prize is a lot of Ossian ham, he says if he wins this could be very beneficial at Christmas time!!! Thanks for voting!! This message approved by the Cody Heckber "vote for me" campaign.

Sink Family Tree
Some of you have told me that you are receiving emails from myheritage.com. I had started this Sink family tree a while back and filled in the little I know and had a few of you help me, but still have a LONG way to go to get it filled out completely. If you are getting emails, you already have "authorization" to go in and add or make changes. Please add maiden names, middle names, birthdays, anniversarys, pictures and death dates. If you are not getting the emails, I can add you if you would like. I would really love to fill this out as complete as possible, so please please please go in and fill out your family's information!! Thanks!
PS..
After looking through all the updates and databases this site keeps for the family, I personally think it would be best if we used this site for just the Sink family. If you want to do your own tree for the other half of your family, you could set up your own site. The great thing is that the site has a "smart match" feature that will link the two trees without mixing the data. Does that make sense, what do you think??
