Ruth R. Maitlen Smith, 95, of Markle, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012. She was born on June 1, 1916 to the late Charles and Laura (Johnson) Mills in Detroit, MI. She worked for Menu Meats, Fort Wayne. She was a member at Grace Presbyterian church and enjoyed watching Cubs, Braves, and Mets baseball. Surviving family include her daughters, Sandra (Kenneth) McMillen of Ft. Wayne, Judith Harrell of Huntington, Karen (Kent) Sink of Markle; steps-sons, Harold and Kenneth Smith; step-daughters, Allison Mullins and Lynn Hawkins; 8 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, William E. Maitlen and Harold E. Smith; son, Gary Maitlen; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
A funeral service will be 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Rd., Ft. Wayne with Pastor Mike Gors afficiating. Visitation will also be from 4-8 pm on Monday, January 16, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
