A Christmas time Thank you

It was so good to see everyone last Saturday! Thanks for making our Christmas special. I am glad that the Sink family still sees the importance and blessing of gathering together, even though this time of year is so busy. From the full house to Uncle Kent's prayer to the food to the battle of the presents, it was all good. What can be better than hearing the familiar laughter of loved ones?

May God bless us, every one.

love,
tamie

A TRUE STORY (STUMP STALKING)

from the front page of the Zanesville Bugle

Ranger Rick, although visibly cold, hungry and shaken he was able to recount what started out as a routine hunting day. Early in the morning he had climbed his tree stand and was settling in when he spotted something a far off,,at the time he could not make out what it was but he decided to circle around it on the flank and trap it between the house and the road thus having no way to escape..Crawling on all fours for the next 12 hours he was able to get close enough to delivered the fatal blow...After stalking for over 12 hours he bagged a state record stump. Unlike the great white hunter from Minnesota he was able to bring home the stump. Asked what he was going to do next and I quote( I plan to dress out the stump and take a long awaited rest....)

From the Zanesville Bugle and this reporter it appears that Mr GROTNES at Island Lake could stand to take a few lessons on how to stalk a stump from Ranger Rick

It has been in the - 20 temps and once I saw - 24 on our thermometer. Our family will not be able to be tog until next week, so I plan to go to Janets today, to the Dahlgrens. Looks like the weather will be O.K. to go. More snow tomorrow.

RE: Old Photo posted by Sara

According to grandma Janet, the lady on the left of the photo is Jean, Bill's wife, not Bud's wife Jackie.

Friday, December 26th

Since Tami, Steve, and Isaac will be here Christmas afternoon through Saturday, we wanted to extend an invitation to all for Friday. Kevin and I both have Friday off, so we'll most likely be here with the Jensen's all day and all evening. You are all welcome to come over to visit if you'd like to see them more than just Saturday. At this point, I'm assuming our schedule is as stated, so I'd suggest you call to make sure we haven't made a run to Heyerly's before coming.

UPDATED UPDATE

After further review, the decision has been made to move the Sink Christmas from the church to the Smith (Kevin) basement. You can park in the side yard or in the front. Let's all be mindful of our elders and leave the spots closest to the house available for them. As Bob said, we'll be planning to eat around noonish. We'll plan to have the gift exchange about 6:00. Hope to see you all then!!!

Hi everybody!
I haven't been on the blog for a while...just wanted to let you know that Steve, Isaac, and I are going to go to Steve's folks on Dec. 20, and we'll be in Zanesville at Kev and Jan's on the 25th. I understand that the Sink gathering is on the 27th... we have to work on Mon the 29 and will have to leave pretty early the 28th so it will be great to see everyone on Fri and Sat!!! Are we supposed to bring a present? Is it that stealing game? If so, how much do we spend? And are you nice or ruthless? (did I even need to ask that question?)

A TOAST TO THE VALHALLA STAFF IN MINN

Here is a toast to the Valhalla staff up north may you have a blessed holiday season

from the staff in Indiana
Patrolman Bob
Ranger Rick

YES, A| MINNESOTA BLIZZARD

All interstates closed, # 10 from Det. lakes to Fargo closed. All of the area was closed to traveling. Most of the schools are closed today. It was -18 when I last looked at the temp. Suppose to stay bitterly cold all week. Looks like the sun is trying to come out from behind the clouds. I wont do much today but stay in and do some baking and writing. Sorry Bennie that I dont have pics. I dont have a printer. You will have to teach me that this coming summer.

Steve hasnt been around snowplowing yet. There was so much wind it is difficult to determine how much snow came. They said from 10 to 14 ins. in the area. The wind chill was in the - 40 degree. Have to stoke the furnace alot when the wind blows !!

Had a nice long talk with Doyle yesterday. Need to call more of you. Love to all, Norma Jean

It's a good time to put the tree up and decorate, watch movies, stuff like that. Always a bright side I guess.

Thanksgiving in Indiana

The Dahlgren's from MN would like to thank Ranger Rick and Nancy for the 5 Star treatment and rolling out the "beige carpet" for us. Maybe next time we can move into the "suite" inside the house. We all had a wonderful time visiting with everyone and the kids got a lot of use out of their fleece blankets.

Ugly Christmas Sweater Anybody???

Kirby, myself, and the kids are on the look-out for ugly Christmas sweaters. One of our get-togethers this year requires us to come up with what we think is the ugliest one. If any of you have one that dare I say grandma or grandpa may have purchased for you but you would never be caught dead in, please keep us in mind!!

(P.S.) Thanks to all that voted for Cody back during the WBCL contest. If you remember, his prize was a ham basket from Ossian Packing. I just wanted to let you all know that Cody asked me if I knew of anybody that he could give it away to that may be in need. In the end, he decided to give it to a man and his two boys that just lost their wife/mother, I believe she was 43. She was diagnosed with a fast acting cancer and past away two months after that. She had been a youth leader for one of the area churches in Huntington. Thanks for helping him win so he was able to do this!!

Christmas Family Update

1 John 16-17
This is how we've come to understand and experience love: Christ sacrificed his life for us. This is why we ought to live sacrificially for our fellow believers, and not just be out for ourselves. If you see some brother or sister in need and have the means to do something about it but turn a cold shoulder and do nothing, what happens to God's love? It disappears. And you made it disappear.

You should all know that we made a wonderful impact on a special family this year. Just a reminder, we picked a family with 3 young boys, that were really struggling from recent medical bills. The trick this year was that they had NO idea that we were "adopting" them AND the only person who knew who this family was was myself and the family member that suggested them. We only knew the boys ages and that the family was in need of a printer. Beyond that, we knew that no sizes, no interests or what they might already have at home! We also had to work early this year so that we could get them the presents before they went out shopping.

Melissa Sink, Paula Schlarb, Paula Huber (Caleb's girlfriend) and I went shopping on Friday and it was fun!! We hope that you are happy with the way we chose to distribute money. Here are the gifts we got for the family:

Mom & Dad:
6 rolls of wrapping paper
2 rolls of scotch tape
1 bag of gift bows
1 pkg of gift tags
1 Kodak printer
2 black ink cartridges
2 color ink cartridges w/photo paper
2 reams of copy paper
1 pkg D batteries
1 Card
1 pkg of candy canes

Boy - Age 8
1 pajama pants
1 pkg socks
1 movie - Chronicles of Narnia
1 Hot Wheels track
1 Sorry board game
1 Indoor soccer set
1 Five pack of Matchbox cars
1 Transformer
1 Lifesaver book
1 Candy Cane w/Runts
1 Box of Nerds

Boy - Age 5
1 pajama pants
1 pkg socks
1 movie - Wall-E
1 Five pack of Matchbox cars
1 Operation board game
1 Transformer
1 Two pack Flying Disc Shooter
1 Box of Legos
1 Lifesaver book
1 Candy Cane w/Runts
1 Box of Nerds

Boy - 5 months:
1 Tube A&D Ointment
1 Baby Wash
4 Baby Puff Snacks
3 LG boxes Luvs diapers
1 LG box of baby wipes

Family:
We still had $540 left and wanted to pay some electrical or gas bills. But, we weren't 100% sure that we knew who their utility companies were and didn't want to mess it up. So, we tried to get a prepaid Visa so they could choose to pay those or to pay hospital bills. BUT, prepaid Visa's have a lot of hidden charges and would have lost a lot of the money that could just go in their pocket. So, we instead gave them a card with cash. The card simply told them that we were sharing God's love with them this holiday season.

It's so incredible that they have no idea who we are! The parents of the husband knew we were doing this, and allowed us to leave the gifts at their house. They then called the family to say that there was something there for them. They were confused, but went over to see what it was. Needless to say, they were shocked and very grateful. We have heard from the parents that they were tearful and couldn't fathom who would do something like this. I truly believe that this is a Christmas they will never forget!

Thank you to everyone who gave, I already look forward to next year!!

Lint trap on your dryer

Keep forgetting to tell everyone on something Mary Ann read in the paper about you lint trap..i pulled out the lint trap and it looked clean but when i held it under the faucet,, water would not run thru it,,, something coming from the dryer sheets...She washed it with soap and the water run thru it which makes the dryer work better ..might save you on your electric bill

New Facebook virus

In Your Facebook: Virus Anything But Friendly

by Claudine Zap

December 5, 2008 11:22:43 AM

It's all fun and friendship until someone gets an infection.

In this case, the someone may be your Facebook friend. There's a nasty virus spreading faster than you can update your Facebook status.

Dubbed Koobface, the virus preys on the social network's messaging system to entice the unsuspecting to download a video from their "friend " with the tempting message, "You look just awesome in this new movie." All you have to do is update your Flash player and you're good to go with your cool, new vid. Sounds great, right? Wrong! The social call is actually a social disease, and before you know it, when you think you've got mail you've actually got a virus. The insidious worm will go grab all the private data on your computer, like credit card info. Is nothing sacred?

The uninvited friend already made its destructive appearance on rival networking site MySpace. But Facebook is serious fresh meat. With 120 million users, it's a nightmare that's been waiting to happen.

According to Facebook, the virus has hit only a very small percentage of users. But, like the growing popularity of social networking, it's on the rise.

With friends like this, who needs enemies?

Last Chance!!

Hey guys - we are going to start shopping for our Christmas family this week and hope to get them the presents by next week. This is your last chance to be a part of it, so if you haven't talked to me about donating money and still want to, let me know ASAP! Thanks to all of you who have already given, we'll share soon what we were able to do for the family!
