Look at this nice picture

I thought I would give some of you crazy hoosiers an example of a nice picture that others can enjoy. Look...no airbrushing, no doctoring, no clipping, no cutting. Just a nice attractive photo of 2 people in love. If you are wondering, we are sitting in a pumpkin patch on a large pumpkin. This picture of Chris and I was taken last year during our little town's "Pumpkin Days". We cut pumpkins out of Chris' dad's farm and brought them to town and had a fun day admiring all the pumpkins. The winner was 905 lbs, i think. my next door neighbor grew that one.

Loisy's New E-Mail
Shhhh...she doesn't know the title of the post. Lois Ann has a new e-mail address as of today. Her new e-mail is now local604@verizon.net Everyone please send her an e-mail with your name in the subject line. I figured this would be an easier way for her to get everyone's e-mail addresses as opposed to copying them all down and retyping all of them in her new account. Thanks everyone.

Spelling Bee Update
Hi everyone, just wanted to update you on Tyler's spelling Bee. He went to the County Spelling Bee and took 2nd place. He was first in our school district and therefore he can go and compete in the Regional Spelling Bee in Fergus Falls, MN the beginning of March. I think he's love for reading has really helped him excel at spelling. We wish him luck and this should be quite the experience for him.
where is everyone?
Okay, I check the blog daily but don't post often. I think the rest of you are the same. Well, all but Bennie. Come on family, let's get back into this thing. I'm sure we've all got stuff to share. Kevin and I found some funny clips on you-tube the other night. For all you "over forty" folks, check out the Carol Burnett bloopers. It's just as funny now as it was then.

National Guard Homecoming Celebration
This past Saturday, Brian & I got to go to a homecoming celebration for Indiana Air and Army National Guard troops that were deployed in 2008. It was held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indy and there were approximately 3,100 airmen and soldiers there, representing the 4,500 that have been deployed from Indiana in 2008. It was really neat to see all those who serve (including my husband!) and their families. The governor spoke, and we got to hear a few songs from country singer Michael Peterson. They also paid tribute to 4 soldiers who passed on in 2008 with a live version of Tim McGraw's "If You're Reading This"...a very emotional song. Check out the pictures, it was a pretty neat ceremony.

Please keep an eye out for a school project
We just wanted to get the word out that Zachary has a "travel buddy" floating around out there somewhere and to keep a look out in case he happens to arrive in your mailbox. This "buddy" is a little stuffed frog that is traveling and in so doing helping the Pine Island third graders learn geography. He comes with instructions but basically you fill out a sheet on where he is, maybe include some local info, and send him on to someone else. They also like it when a post card (or whatever) is sent to the address included in the packet so they can track them (and keep the excitement up). They have a huge map on the wall in the third grade hall where they post locations visited, therefore learning geography in a fun way. At least if they get some post cards along the way, they are sure to get something in case the little guy gets lost in the mail before he makes it home this spring. Plus the wall fills up faster too!
Zachary gave his buddy to Grandma and the word is that he's heading for warmer climates (though that's not saying much considering what it's been like here). So if you happen to be one of the lucky ones to get the little guy sent to you, we thank you for helping out! Just as a point of interest, when Nicholas was in third grade, his buddy went to the Cain side of the family and he got 3 postcards back so we thought we'd try the other side this time. If you don't happen to be one of the lucky ones, don't worry, there's still Jacob in 2 years and Matthew in 4!
