NEWS FROM VALHALLA, STILL COLD

It has been down to 32 degrees the past two mornings. Today sunny but still windy. Had wind almost all week. Cabins were all full for last weekend of opening, had to turn some guys away. No room in the inn. Walleye fishing was very good and all reported catching many fish. The sunfish were even biting really well. Many walleye were 20 ins. and some were 24 ins. Thought you fisherman might like the report.

The faithful Delta Pilots were here this past week; just left today. Three of them are from Atlanta,Ga.. and one from S. Minnesota. They have been coming every year for 35 Years !! They made reservations for next year also. They never complain about the weather; just happy to be here and be tog. with old buddies. They log about 30 miles of jogging, like to bird watch and sit and look at the lake. They are all retired now.

Its quiet out there on the Family Blog. I'm sure everyone is busy.

Getting warmer; suppose to get close to 70* today. Still windy. I'm glad to hear the kitties are still alive. Steve is a farmer this past week end. Tilled the soil at Mud Lake and planting corn.

Stephen said...

you forgot to tell them that those guys like to spend alot of time drinking beer. Got the corn planted lastnight!!!

Norma Jean said...

Yes, the" "pilots" do sit around and drink beer; but they are never drunk or obnoxious. They must run it off.

Sara said...

i think i MAY have seen them a little drunk and nicely obnoxious on occasion...but MAYBE it was just my imagination! the 4 of them must run a lot to run off 8 cases of beer in a week!

You guys are aparently not up on illegal baiting....Indiana Felines are ILLEGAL for use in Minnesota just as are the Indiana Crickets...
Although Putting cats in a bottle is fun

Stephen said...

Bennie, if you come up this summer bring the cats leave them here for 90 days and then we can legally bottle them.

this is getting out of hand but i have to agree that putting cats in a bottle sounds really fun..so how many cat would fit in a 16oz bottle and do you have to run them thru a food processor???????

Kirby said...

if you get'em when they are young...you can shove them in without even hurting them.,that is until you cap it ..i think the record is 6

Sara said...

you guys are really sick! but take notice...NJ now has the record for the most number of comments to a post. bennie, you are going to have to put that swimsuit on again! Oh, the cats being gone...? I'll bet momma cat is taking them into the woods to teach then some serious hunting techniques. They will be just fine, i am sure. likely plotting how to can humans. food processor...kirby you are sick. cats are great when you raise them right! even better when you spay them...then they aren't reproducing and they still catch mice for you , AND they are mellowed out. you should try it. bottled cat...sick. (pretending to be offended ;-)

upon further review of your sickening dialogue, I have come to the conclusion that something MAY have happened to the cats and I suspect it may be Bennie who is taking them out. His opening comment is stated as helping ranger rick out for the past couple of weeks. hmmm. you should be ashamed of yourselves!

ranger, if you would like to get rid of more cats send them up to sara's house, she likes to take other peoples cats.

Sara said...

yes, i do like cats. i did not like steve's KC very well, though. it has been a few years and several batches of kittens, finally a spay and she's still naughty. last week the septic tank pumping guy came out and really liked her. I said he could take her since he needed a good mousing cat at his place. so, he came back a few days later and took her home with him. she lives near fosston now. he seems like a very nice guy. so now i am left with 2 cats, both fixed. no more kittens. i miss all the springtime kitten excitement now, though. rats. so do the kids.

We too had our share of litters of kittens last year, but had both of our momma cats spayed over the winter. Now, no more kittens running around, and much happer cats! (I do miss the little playful kittens though!)

Stephen said...

Bottle them and the will keep as kittens for a long time!!!

Sara said...

sick-o, stephen.

Norma Jean said...

Stephen Grotnes You are naughty!!!!
So is my brother, G.L., Benny and Kirby.

Stephen said...

or a person could mount them...

Nancy said...

thanks for the info. Steve, when the next batch arrives, i will box them up and ship them to Sara. maybe i should send the mother cat along. if she doesn't want them, maybe you could bottle them for future bear bait.

Norma Jean, thank you for the news from Valhalla, But how in the world did it turn into this mess? Love you, Ranger Rick

Stephen said...

It'sall Ben's fault, he started it.

it's time for garry to get his own account so all of these awful remarks about cat torture don't look like they are from sweet little nancy! bennie, get OVER there and set him up an account!

Still cold in Minnesota. We wore our winter coats all weekend. Damp, cold and windy, and still not much sun. In the 30s and 40s most nights, and barely up to 60 daytime. Weve had frost a couple of times this past week in the area. Not here at the lake. I keep taking my hanging plants in the house at night. It might get up to 70 by the 4th of July !!!
Sara and Chris brought her camper down this past week end. It was cold at night, but they had fun anyway. Bennie, you will have to find another spot to camp, you might have to fight with Sara!! No just kidding. The temps are suppose to get up to close to 80 by the end of the week. It wont get that warm here at the lake, I suppose. Cabins all full but one this coming Sat. Just finished a big weekend, full, and 4 cabins staying the whole week. One couple from Kansas City staying
4 1/2 weeks. We've had a busy spring, and not much left for the summer.

I fired up the wood stove again on Sat. to heat the house...and its still going today for a couple more days.
