He's making great improvements. He had a horrible three days last weekend. On Friday was in horrible pain, so much so that I called the doctor and they decided we needed to come in for an ultrasound to rule out blood clots. He couldn't put any weight on the right leg (left one is super) so we had to get a wheelchair to get him to the hospital. No blood clots - good news. It's such a long story, but on Monday we took him to get the staples out and asked to see a doctor about the pain. They x-rayed and determined that everything looked good. Paula, our staff nurse, went along. She suggested maybe the oxycontin wasn't working. Good thought. They switched the pain med. Also the thigh muscle in the right leg was having spasms so they got him a muscle relaxant. Wow, we got home, got some meds in him and he slept. That was so welcome after three days of agony. Started back to therapy on Tuesday and has been improving ever since. We just got home from the gathering at Kirby's. We were there two hours and he's resting now. He has a check-up on Tuesday and we're hoping to head to Alabama with the group on Friday. It's been hard, but I am 100% sure that it won't be long before he's saying that he's glad he did this. Someone at church today told him that he's waking as good now as he was before the surgery!!!!

it's always good to ask about stuff instead of just gritting your teeth and bearing it. We're glad he got some relief with the new pain meds and hope today was better and tomorrow better still. See you on Saturday! We can't wait! I just know the sun and beach and ocean will do wonders for those knees!!

put sunscreen on your scars! 30 minutes before heading out into the sun! I am jealous. make sure you don't sit too long while traveling-don't want to get a blood clot. Is the right leg edematous?-swollen?

I doubt they will get on tonight - busy - so I will answer for them! Mom and Dad are taking our van so that he can sit with his legs stretched out. They are also planning to stop every two hours to walk around and keep the blood flowing. And the right knee is SO much better, lots less swollen and looking good. From what I'm told he is feeling better overall.
