Nominate a Christmas Family

It's already that time of year again! We need to find a family or two that we are going to help make their Christmas special. I know many families are financially strapped this year, many in our own family, but we are truly blessed as a whole. We have a large, loving family that is able to truly make a difference to another family.

Someone asked me to mention this too. This year at our Christmas party, instead of buying gifts for a man/woman exchange like we usually do, maybe we could go back to white elephant gifts. Then we could take that $20 and add it to the amount that we were going to give to the Christmas family. For example, if you were going to give $25, you would now be giving $65 to the family (man & woman gift). We could really make the white elephant gift fun, like for the men, oldest tool in your garage or women, the ugliest sweater. I'll make a poll in the right hand column, please vote for what you would rather do!

If you have a family that you want to nominate, please email me. The family will always be anonymous. Also if you are ready to donate money, you can send it to me at 13835 Hamilton Meadows Lane, FW IN 46814. We need all money by Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving and Christmas

Mary Ann and I have talked about where we will have the holiday get togethers this year. She is willing to host Christmas and I had said that I would be willing to host Thanksgiving.....only I don't know how to cook a turkey!! ummm.....would that be a problem? Or is anyone else interested in having it at their house?

Last year we decided to have our Christmas get together the weekend following, but this year that would be the 26th. Is that still going to conflict with your immediate family parties? Is the 2nd a better option?

We're just looking for opinions on what everyone wants, so please discuss!!

Missy

I had to share this story with you. This morning Camden was showing me all of his papers from Sunday School and telling me his story. I asked him if he was having fun with you as his teacher and he said, "yeah, I love her really much." I thought you would like hearing that - you must be doing a good job teacher!!

Madalyn

I know some of you may already know, but many probably do not know, that Madalyn has been ill. She is doing better now.

Wednesday, Oct.14 we had to take her to the emergency room because she had a fever of 103.9, while on both tylenol and motrin. She ended up with Croup and Bronchiolitis. Friday, she seemed to have been doing a lot better, then Sat. she woke up with a temp. of 102.3 and complaining of an earache. I figured just an ear infection, we would control with tylenol and motrin until monday when we could got to the doctor. Which we tried. By Sunday night her temp was back to 103.6. But we managed it enough to get her to the doctor on Monday. Of course, the doctor was almost certain it was the flu, so Madalyn and I waited in the Dr. office until they got her flu swab results and her bloodwork results back. The good news was it wasn't the flu, the bad news is that after having the viral infection on wed. and thurs. the prior week she had gotten an ear infection caused by a bacteria. Her immune system was so wore down from fighting the viral infection it couldn't manage the bacterial one so soon after which caused it to attack her bloodstream. So, they admitted her to the hospital and gave her IV antibiotics and lots of fluids. But was not able to come home until her labs were getting better and she was drinking enough fluids. So, we were there until today. But have to keep her away from a lot of people until her immune system has a little time to recover. The doctor said about a week. So that is what has been going on here. She is on the mend and doing much better. You can tell, because today she started to not listen and be a little more defiant.

We love Lucy

Here is the newest member of our family! She is 8 weeks old today. She is a registered yellow labrador retriever. If she turns out to be a good example of the breed, we will be breeding her in a few years. What's most interesting is that this pup was born this summer on the day that our old lab Sunny, died. how sweet! come say hello to little Lucy this summer.

Christmas Gift Paid Off...

I’m sure many of you remember the “52 Weeks of Naughty Nights” gift that Brian received in the Sink Christmas gift exchange this past year. We haven’t reported much about it here on the blog, but it turned out to be a pretty good gift. We're excited to announce that we are expecting a baby in April!

KEVIN IS MOVING ALONG

Kev is doing great with the new knees. He "graduated" from going to physical therapy two weeks ago, and was very happy to tell the nazi therapists goodbye. In order to graduate he had to be able to completely staighten the legs and be able to bend them 110 degrees. He had the bend part quite a while ago but had trouble getting those muscles to stretch enough for full extension. Of course, he still has to work the knees a couple of times a day at home. He went back to work a couple of weeks ago also, working 1/2 days. Then this last week he worked full days. He came home pretty tired and achy, but we had expected that. He's still taking pain meds regularly (in smaller doses). He thinks they are making his thinking a bit slower. I won't comment on that one. After he finishes working this week, he'll be starting a new job. I'm not going to go into that one - I'll leave that to him, but I thought maybe an update on the knees should be posted for all who are wondering. Thanks for all your prayers. Kevin has said several times that this was a hard thing to go through. His phrase is "this one really knocked me on my bum". We're both so glad to have it in the past and to be moving toward total health.

UPDATE ON SAIGE

Sara had posted the website for Saige a few days ago. I would encourage all of you to check it out. It will lift your heart and renew your spirit. God is good and He is faithful.

prayer request

Hi to all the Sink"s This the first time I have tried this so bear with me. I have a prayer request for little Saige Lambert (Jamie and Greg' s little 4 yr. old. Hawk and Linda's Grandaughter. She has ALL some form of Leukemia, but it is the treatable kind. They found out 10/1 at the Lutheran had to have a transfusion there then was sent to Riley. Already had 1 round of chemo with 4 more to follow, then chemo pills for the next 2 1/2 years. So I thought we should all be praying for her and the family. I talked to Linda this morning and she should get to come home this evening then back to Indy Wed. for the chemo.
