Lake Brrr-midji's Polar Plunge
Last Saturday it was a lovely 39 degrees for the Polar Plunge on Lake Bemidji, which the Jaycees have every year to raise money for the Special Olympics. The water was 31 degrees. Chris, his Aunt and cousin plunged for their first time. Chris raised $139 in donations. His body was like a heater for the rest of the day-he said he felt great afterward! (A few years ago, the plunge occurred even though it was -30+ below zero plus windchill. crazy people. They made it onto CNN that time.) He said he might do it every year! crazy man...not me!!! uh-uh. what a good sport he is!

update on Erik
Elijah's friend Erik has miraculously been getting better little by little...after spinal surgery last week, he can now walk with help and the radiation is working on his brain. Please pray that it would continue to work on the spine and liver & not make him sick...he has many more sessions to go. This is a killer disease called nuroblastoma that he has fought since he was 6 yrs old with a 13 year remission. The nerve endings turn into tumors all over the body. As of right now, it looks like God wants him here a little longer! He is an amazing witness for Christ.

Latest update on Sink Boy
Went to Dr. yesterday and he said that if I don't have him by next Wednesday he would schedule me to be induced on Friday January 29. So, it sounds like his arrival will be soon. Sooner for the rest of you than me though. This little buger is making me miserable, causing me all kinds of ower abdominal pain and insomnia. So this next week will be long for me. Hopefully, him causing me all this pain now will mean he will be a great baby, with no problems, one can only hope.
Still don't have a name for certain. We do have a list that we are trying to narrow down now. So, the baby won't go nameless.

please pray for Erik
Elijah was here Fri. night with a friend on their way to Minneapolis to visit a friend in the UofM hospital there who is fighting for his life. He has a rare form of cancer that he got as a child, then was in remission for 13 years. His name is Erik and he needs prayer. I think Elijah could use prayer too. This is so hard. http://wyatt.tcob.com/ccrf/annual_report_2009_erik.pdf for history, www.caringbridge.org/visit/erikludwinski for current info. Thank you.

Adam and the girls got to enjoy the snow this past weekend. He took them sledding behind the four wheeler. They absolutely loved it. However, Madalyn thought it was a little too cold out on Sunday so she didn't stay out long. All the fun I got to have was watching and taking pictures, due to the fact that this Sink boy growing in my belly wants out a little too early. Everything is going ok. Contractions have slowed down and are not regular now that I'm on medicine. We will keep you updated. That's all that is going on around here.

Christmas vacation is over :(
Yesterday we delivered Caleb back to his mom...i guess Christmas vacation really is over. We at Valhalla had a great time together~everyone was home for the first time in many years right on Christmas Day! That is quite an accomplishment with 2 nurses in our family. Happy New Year to all the Sink family and may God bless all of our students returning to school, college, etc.
Steve and I came back from the twin cities early this evening and are hunkering down for another -30 or -35 degree night. Isaac kept the fire going while we were gone, so it is nice and warm in the house. On the bright side, we've passed the winter solstice, so we'll be gradually getting longer days here in the Northern Hemisphere! I'm grateful for that, aren't you? ...hey, everybody, let's hear from more of us...what's happenin' in your neck of the woods? love to all.
