Lake Brrr-midji's Polar Plunge

Last Saturday it was a lovely 39 degrees for the Polar Plunge on Lake Bemidji, which the Jaycees have every year to raise money for the Special Olympics. The water was 31 degrees. Chris, his Aunt and cousin plunged for their first time. Chris raised $139 in donations. His body was like a heater for the rest of the day-he said he felt great afterward! (A few years ago, the plunge occurred even though it was -30+ below zero plus windchill. crazy people. They made it onto CNN that time.) He said he might do it every year! crazy man...not me!!! uh-uh. what a good sport he is!

Look at the smile on that Chris's face. I think he really enjoyed it. The water was up on my boots about 2 ins. We all got wet. It was fun. They were doing this by the Paul Bunyon, Blue Ox area. We use to go there when we were kids.

Crazy Chris!! Notice folks, that is REAL ice surrounding these folks. I can't understand how someone would be able to jump into that! I mean, I like ice well enough...in my glass of Coke!
