Thanksgiving
Thanks everyone for coming to Thanksgiving! Unfortunately we ran out of food, so please bring more to Christmas! (KIDDING!) We had lots of good food and had a good time visiting with everyone.
I had to run this vagrant off my property after I caught him fishing off my deck. About the time I got there he was pulling this bluegill through the ice!

THANKSGIVING DINNER
Just a reminder - We'll be having Thanksgiving Dinner at Kevin and Jan's house on Thursday at noon. Mary Ann and Scott are preparing turkeys and Lois Ann is making a ham loaf. From there, you're on your own - I don't have any idea. We'll be using our basement rather than the garage (for extra space). If you have folding table and chairs, I'd like for you to bring them. And if so, can you let me know? Otherwise, we'll go up to the church Wednesday night to get tables and chairs. As far as the parking goes, you can park in the side yard and also along the road. We're looking forward to a full house and lots of noise.

Correction
Benny, you were mostly correct in regards to who was in the picture that you posted on 11/08. Grandma said that the people in the picture were actually (L to R) Bill's wife Jean, Jeanette, Ethel and Bud.

Christmas Family - Decision Time!!
OK guys....it's time to get serious about our Christmas family/families. I hope most of you read about the family that was suggested to us (see the post dated October 28.) Before insurance the family is already looking at over $300,000 in medical bills. I had mentioned that the mother had been taken to the hospital that day. After all her tests, it was found that she had some kind of seizure and cannot be left alone with the baby or continue to babysit for the next two months (think loss of income!)
I had originally suggested that we call the Salvation Army to adopt a second family, but then someone else thought maybe we should keep it to this one particular family. If we adopt one family, we would probably put a lot of the money toward GC for electric bills and gas bills, not just more presents. What do you think? We'll do the poll thing again to get some votes coming in. Please vote within the week so that we can start getting things going.
Also, if you would like to participate, please email me and let me know the amount you would like to give. You can mail it to me by check at any time, 1406 Edenton Dr. FW 46804. Our hope is to get all the money collected by Thanksgiving so we can start shopping!!

Monster Buck from the window
What a hunt on Sunday. I was looking out of the window in Sara's entry room and this buck came from John's field and into her yard. I had brought my gun in from the earlier hunt so I had it right there in the room. When the buck got into the middle of the yard, one of her cats ran out into the yard. The buck decided it was not a threat and appeared to be staring it down. I loaded the gun and was able to open the window enough to shoot. I hit it in the front of the chest as it was pointing towards me. It ran about 30 yards and fell down just on the other side of where Sara's camper is parked. It dressed out at 235 pounds, not sure of the rack score yet but it will be a high non-typical, who knows it may be a record for Clearwater County. The neighbors are a little upset as they had been watching and waiting for it, but so goes the hunt. Sara said I could put it on the wall, but we need to find a big enough spot, may need to remodel a bit. Hope everyone that is hunting, "Steve", get one just like it.

more old photos
deer hunting opener
Hello, everyone! miss you all. We have bucks galore around here and I am thankful for the group of fellows who are thinning them out for me on my place. By 8:30 am, they had 2 nice bucks hanging in the tree and hopefully there will be 6 by the end of the weekend. Then i can brave the roads again, not fearing so much hitting the deer. (Last year I hit 2 deer in the same weekend!) I have to keep my Sunny (dog) inside, because she looks like a deer (a chubby short deer). We got our first snow and ice covering last night...just in time to welcome the hunters! The roads are slick, but just fine if you drive slowly. br-r-r! my thermometer says 24 degrees.
I enjoy looking at the old pictures. OK, computer gurus from minnesota...who are you and when are our photos gonna get on here? I think Chris Cain can do it, i saw one of Heidi on here back in May...c'mon...more, more! Wonder if we have any baby-butt nudey shots of little brian or stevie?
Everyone have a great weekend. love you all! -Sara

pictures
I haven't been on the blog for a long time and this morning had a lot of fun looking at the old pictures. I left some responses, even though it's sorta late. I am waiting excitedly for the pics of the Smith family with our future president (2013), the first woman president of the United States and my heroine, Sarah Palin!!!

Fun Weekend!
Mom and Missy came down to Indy this past weekend for the state high school marching band competition at Lucas Oil Stadium...and some shopping and general girl time :) It was a great time for us band geeks, we watched Class C (which is the class Norwell competes in) and Class A (BIG bands, Homestead-size; Avon's band has 260 kids, which Missy and I commented was more than our high school graduating classes!!). Norwell took 2nd place in Class C, and although their show was very good and the music was amazing, it was the general consensus that there were other bands that performed better and deserved a higher placing. For anyone interested in more info (tap into that inner band nerd!!), http://www.indianamarching.com/ is a great site, but you might need to create a profile to see anything good (it doesn't take long, and they don't spam). Unfortunately, my camera was out of service (i.e. I forgot to charge the battery :( ) for Saturday so I don't have pictures to share.
However, the camera was back in service for the Colts vs. Patriots game on Sunday night, so I'll post a few of those photos here. It was a blast!!! If you ever get the opportunity to go, it is fun, and I honestly think no seat in the house is a "bad" seat...we were in section 529 (the second highest level) and could still read the numbers on the jersies. The stadium is amazing, just seeing that is an experience in itself!

Line of scrimmage...sometime in the first half
Fireworks for the 18-15 win over the Pats! Also, don't forget to vote today!! Even though this horribly long election season has been so annoying, I hope everyone feels as neat as I do to think that we get to go out and make our voices heard :D
